"24"
My "24" project shows 24 images, 23 of which were crafted using various Adobe Photoshop filters and techniques. The aim of the piece is to show the essence of conflict and mortality today as we see it through mainstream and social media platforms.
Central to each image is a skull as symbol of death, surrounded by the flags of nations currently involved in ongoing warfare worldwide (Russia/Ukraine and Israel/”Palestine”). These images serve as a reminder of the human cost of conflict and the fragility of life amidst geopolitical turmoil.
"24" tries to reflect the complexities of media presentation in the modern digital age. From my study of sociology I have seen that with news coverage continuously streaming across various platforms 24/7, many sources have been accused of producing “fake news” media bias through political agendas with some even being banned in the UK (e.g. RT). Operating through its unique lens, the media can potentially distort reality in accordance with its own ideologies and as a result the truth can become warped, leaving viewers with a fragmented and sometimes manipulated understanding of the news.
